City Night Songs

Seven friends from Singapore, Bombay, Surabaya and Hong Kong weave together stories and songs to create a raw, authentic and affecting snapshot of an Asian city after dark. Drawing in part from their own lives, the ensemble searches for friendship, love and peace, crossing into the difficult territories of joy, heartbreak and acceptance, as they lay bare the secrets of the night.

Written and composed by its cast under the watchful eye of director Huzir Sulaiman, City Night Songs is a devised musical that is by turns hilarious, beautiful, provocative and moving. It will find its place with anyone who has faced the night and all its promise, pleasure, and pain.

Reviews

  • Press

...a play so catchy that it is hard not to clap along...a multi-genre endeavour that includes lyrical monologues, zippy comedic scenes and an array of original songs...

The Straits Times, SG

...incredibly funny when it wanted to be, and achingly poignant when it had to be...extremely refreshing engaging, and encouraging.

Buttons In The Bread, SG
