Checkpoint Theatre is dedicated to mentoring and nurturing new Singapore voices from diverse backgrounds and bringing original Singapore stories to everyone through our school and public outreach initiatives. We need the support of our corporate partners to continue our work. Partner with us to achieve:

Checkpoint Theatre is frequently commissioned to present work at the Singapore International Festival of Arts and its predecessor the Singapore Arts Festival. We are also regularly commissioned several times by the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, NUS Arts Festival and Singapore Writers’ Festival, and we have presented work in collaboration with the National Museum of Singapore. Our work has toured cities worldwide, including Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and New York.
Checkpoint Theatre works with the Ministry of Education’s Singapore Youth Festival and Creative Arts Programme to champion arts education in Singapore. We have brought the arts to young people in over 30 secondary and tertiary schools and educational institutes.

Corporate donors enjoy a 250% tax deduction for cash donations and may be nominated for the Patron of the Arts award. In appreciation of our donors, we also offer complimentary tickets, invitations to exclusive gala receptions and priority access to our performances and events. As a corporate partner, your brand will be promoted on our collaterals and social media and will be associated with our mission of empowering young people and building communities through the arts. We can create bespoke opportunities tailored to specific interests and needs, from professional skills development workshops to exclusive behind-the-scenes access to our creative processes and our artists.
Checkpoint Theatre is supported by the Cultural Matching Fund, which provides dollar-for-dollar matching grants for cash donations. This means that any donation made by your organisation has double the impact. Partner with us to create greater impact, greater access and greater opportunities for all to experience the arts!

Checkpoint Theatre presents The Fourth Trimester by Faith Ng
Faith Ng’s beloved The Fourth Trimester returns, having clinched Production of the Year and Best Original Script at the 2023 ST Life Theatre Awards. This compelling play profoundly encapsulates the experience of life and parenthood in Singapore, and is essential viewing for all.
Touted as a “a must-watch for all sorts of people” (The Straits Times), The Fourth Trimester runs 20–30 November 2025 at the Drama Centre Theatre.
The first month is always the roughest.
Exhausted from battling sleepless nights and endless diaper changes, first-time parents Samantha and Aaron find themselves overwhelmed caring for their newborn. Close friends rally around them in support, but picture-perfect couple Lisa and Daniel are beginning to feel the strain of family life on their relationship, while Ann yearns for a space of her own. Next door, newlyweds Sofia and Johan deal with the pressures of starting a family. Faced with the tangle of life and its hurdles, ‘adulting’ has never seemed so complicated.
Incredibly rich, humorous and compassionate, The Fourth Trimester is achingly familiar in its portrayal of family life and all its uncertainties. With sensitive, nuanced direction by Claire Wong and insightful dramaturgy by Huzir Sulaiman, Faith Ng’s work casts a refreshing and timely light on parenthood, identity, and what it means to be happy in contemporary Singapore.
Expect the unexpected in this hopeful and heartfelt ode to the places we call home, and the people we choose as family.
About Checkpoint Theatre
Who are we?
Established in 2002, Checkpoint Theatre is a company of multi-disciplinary storytellers. We focus on creating and presenting original Singapore content with strong writing, performance and direction, across different media, disciplines and platforms.
With honesty and humour, head and heart, we produce and develop vibrant and important contemporary Asian stories that connect with, challenge, and inspire both local and international audiences.
We are the home of new Singapore playwriting, and we nurture the next generation of Singapore theatre-makers and creatives.
How does Checkpoint Theatre make an impact with your donation?
There’s no simple answer to this question, but we’re proud to share some of the ways Checkpoint Theatre has been working hard to stretch every dollar of your donation:
- For the past 23 years, we have been exclusively telling original Singapore stories that belong on a world-class stage. We spend 1.5–4 years researching, developing, and writing a new script, with the rehearsal and production process then taking 1–2 more years.
- We have spent the past decade creating and conducting educational programmes in schools, for both students and educators. We are also committed to sharing the theatremaking process with the public, in order to nurture and inspire the next generation of artists and audiences.
- We pay fair and progressive wages to our artistic professionals, ensuring everyone in our community is taken care of.
- We continue to seek different avenues to make the arts accessible to all, launching our No Questions Asked initiative just last year, so audiences of any financial means can enjoy our productions, no questions asked.
Telling original Singapore stories that matter takes thousands of hours, hundreds of theatremakers, and the support of you, our dear audience. Please donate to Checkpoint Theatre – make a meaningful difference by allowing us to continue enriching Singapore’s cultural landscape and uplifting Singapore’s artistic community.
