wo(men)
This is the story of Pek Har, Ghek Huay and Danae: 3 ordinary women and their ordinary lives. Except that when seen up close, an ‘ordinary’ life is far from. Instead, it is complex, confusing, unexpected, painfully funny, and, yes, quite extraordinary.
Written by NUS undergraduate Faith Ng, under the mentorship of Huzir Sulaiman, wo(men) is a funny and poignant portrayal of a ‘normal’ HDB-dwelling Singaporean Hokkien family, trying their best to survive family secrets and family ties.
Directed by Claire Wong, wo(men) was chosen as one of the top 5 plays in 2010 by the Flying Inkpot. The production won the Life! Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actress and 3 Life! Theatre Award nominations: Best Actress, Best Original Script and Best Set Design.
First produced in 2010 by Checkpoint Theatre with NUS Stage.

Faith Ng's wo(men) was an honest play, grounded in good writing... which rang true with its utterly believable and thoroughly Singaporean characters.

Most satisfying production I have seen so far... Astringent, well-observed, extremely entertaining and ultimately touching
