Recalling Mother (2017, Adelaide)
Recalling Mother is a funny and poignant celebration where Claire Wong and Noorlinah Mohamed discuss the real-life trials and triumphs as they look after their respective aging mothers. One mother speaks Cantonese, the other speaks Malay.
A glimpse into the complexities of the mother-daughter relationship, Claire Wong and Noorlinah Mohamed share with us their stories of their mothers, who somehow seem just as familiar as ours.
With each performance (in 2006, 2009, 2015, 2016, and now 2017), Claire and Noorlinah revise the show. As they and their mothers grow older, new stories are added, while stories they were not ready to tell are now told in full.

The special but often tense relationships between daughters and their mothers are laid bare with great love, humour, compassion and honesty... profoundly moving and increasingly relevant to today's society
The Advertiser, AUS
[Recalling Mother] is pitched at just the right level, and is a hymn to mothers everywhere. It is also theatre at its most raw, fundamental and authentic, firmly rooted in the story-telling tradition.
Glam Adelaide, AUS
This is a touching and moving production, superbly performed by these two daughters who show us their love and respect for their mothers.
