Checkpoint Theatre is holding auditions for I Totally Agree With You, a new play written and directed by Huzir Sulaiman, to be staged as part of our 2027 Season:
A woman going through her late parents’ things is drawn into a series of surreal adventures as she tries to make sense of her own life, her family’s history, and the world around her.
With the world in an increasingly strange and overwhelming state, Huzir’s response is to seek the joy, whimsy, and glee amidst the challenges of the human condition. Fusing the anarchic comedy of his earliest work with the lyricism of his mature era, I Totally Agree With You is a resolutely contemporary new production that asks: Can we end our isolation through play? Can we truly see and accept one another? Can we lay down our anxiety and dance?
Actors will need to work in an ensemble, with the ability to deliver nuanced and naturalistic performances, speaking complex, lyrical text in English and Singlish. They should have an aptitude for contemporary movement and physical performance techniques, be able to sing, and have excellent comedic timing. Any gender or ethnicity with a playing age of 25–65.
Actors must be able to commit to a full-time rehearsal and performance period of 5 April to 5 June 2027.

1. Your CV
– CVs should be submitted as document file formats only (e.g. docx, pdf)

2. Video recordings of yourself performing:
– Two scenes of your choice; each video should be under three minutes in length:
> One serious, preferably poetic/lyrical
> One comedic
> Singapore plays are required; Checkpoint Theatre plays are encouraged
> The videos can either be monologues, or scenes where you play multiple characters
> Videos should be named as follows: [Name]_[Comedic/Serious]_[Title (if applicable)], e.g. Jane Doe_Comedic_Atomic Jaya
If you have acted with Checkpoint Theatre before, you do not need to submit an audition video, but are welcome to do so. Please ensure you send in your updated CV.
