Works in Development 2021
Works in Development 2021 goes virtual, featuring two fresh scripts from our Associate Artists, ants chua and Lucas Ho! Participate in developing these works by watching their dramatised readings and giving your detailed written feedback and responses to them. Scripts that have undergone this careful and considered process include Zenda Tan’s Eat Duck (2019) and Faith Ng’s Normal (2017, 2015).
This event will be conducted online, over Zoom.

Unnamed Lesbian Play by ants chua
Read by: Claire Chung, Tricia Tan, Sheryl Teo and Audrey Teong
When a theatre club in a girls’ secondary school decides to put up a play about lesbians, friendships are tested and lives are changed. Unnamed Lesbian Play takes us behind the curtain into the perilous world of teenage girlhood: periods, crushes, and overdue homework. Playwright ants chua’s new work asks us to consider the politics of gender and representation while celebrating the wild, silly mess that is growing up, together.
Tender Submission by Lucas Ho
Read by: Lim Yu-Beng and Karen Tan
Hours before an Extraordinary General Meeting, Catherine has sequestered herself in the cry room of the church. She has staked her reputation on this tender submission, and now the congregation will put it to a vote. Her husband David lends support and encouragement, but as the meeting draws nearer, the couple are forced to confront difficult questions that test the very foundation of their marriage.
